£18,000 windfall for Memorial Hall

Frittenden Memorial Hall has scooped £18,000 worth of funding to complete an extensive upgrade of its facilities.
The cash comes from a Section 106 agreement linked to the development of 23 new homes on a site just outside the village.
Chair of the Memorial Hall Rosalind Riley said: “This has been a very welcome addition to our funds. We work hard to provide this completely volunteer-run resource for our existing and future residents alike, and we were grateful to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council for giving us the opportunity to bid for the funding.” The money was made available under a section 106 agreement brokered by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council as part of the planning permission for the Brook Place development by Canham Homes.
Tunbridge Wells Borough Councillor Andy Fairweather said: “The Council wants local communities to be able to benefit from new developments and we were pleased to open the way for a great partnership between Frittenden Memorial Hall and Canham Homes.”
Brook Place is on a site a few hundred yards from Frittenden Memorial Hall with a new pedestrian footway having been built to link the development with the village.
Canham Homes Head of Commercial Kevin Sunnucks said: “We were excited to be able to develop a site in Frittenden in an outstanding location in the heart of the Weald. Frittenden is a village with an active community and were very happy to be able to help the Memorial Hall, which is at the centre of community life.”
The £18,000 has been used for a wide range of additions to the Memorial Hall covering everything from a pop-up bar to a high quality external notice board. One of the most noticeable changes will be the installation of acoustic dampening which will immediately improve the audio environment of the Hall.
Notice of AGM
The Management Committee warmly invites all residents to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Memorial Hall to be held on Monday 15 December at 7.30pm.
This is an open meeting — everyone in the village is welcome to come along, hear about what’s been happening at the Memorial Hall over the past year, and share ideas for the future.
We are also looking for new volunteers to join the committee or help with events, maintenance, and community activities. Even if you can only spare a small amount of time now and then, your help will be greatly appreciated and will make a real difference in keeping our Hall at the heart of village life.
If you care about the future of our Memorial Hall and can spare a little time, please come along to the AGM or get in touch with contact@frittendenmemorialhall.co.uk for more information.

The Hall is one of 31 properties and monuments in the centre of the village in the scheme. There is a booklet with details of all of these, as well as a map. It can be bought from the Bell & Jorrocks, or directly from the Historical Society.
